This week I have been learning about choosing a site builder, a host, and a product. There are various types of site builders, i.e., drop and drag, content management systems, and full layout and style control. For a beginner, it looks like the drop and drag system would be easy to use. There are many to choose from and I have chosen Wix.com as a site builder which is a drag and drop method. It is also my current hosting system. It seemed easy to work with and no coding was required. Hosting services were studied and Blue Host stood out. Blue Host provides support for multiple site builders besides its own website builder. It gives a $100 credit for use on Google Ads. Then the owner has to spend at least $25 on his Google Ads campaign. Blue Host provides a free domain name for the first year. To help answer questions on Blue Host, there is chat support 24/7 available on all the plans. With the Choice and Pro plans, phone support is available from 7 AM to 12 AM Eastern Standard Time. Google Analytics is allowed on its site and there is no additional cost charged by them to use it. A quantify and comparison worksheets were used to compare the aspects of the site builders and a host.
I brainstormed and compared twenty business ideas. The top one was to become an affiliate with Amazon. What I would like to do is have a website where I provide a service of doing family history research. Then I could run advertisements on my website that appeal to customers who are attracted my services. Advertisements may include DNA testing kits, heirloom pictures/crafts, Storyworth (a company that helps people preserve the story of their lives), cruises, travel, etc.
